Experiential learning

“I fell in love with the language and culture in Spain, but also with the way that learning a new language can influence your perspective on the world. I saw that life can be different from where I grew up.” - Elijah Ackerly (Hispanic Studies)
Field schools
Programs in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures run hands-on field schools all around the world. You'll bring your learning outside the classroom in experiential, intercultural short-term courses with fellow UVic students.
International exchange
The International Centre for Students (ICS) Exchange Program allows current students to study at one of the University of Victoria's (UVic) partner universities around the world, while earning UVic units and paying UVic tuition fees. With over 80 partner institutions around the world, you'll immerse yourself in a new culture, develop your language skills and complement your classroom learning.
Study abroad
Develop your language skills and broaden cultural understanding through study abroad programs:
Co-op
Through UVic's co-op program, you'll gain hands-on paid work experience related to what you're studying. You'll develop your skills, explore different jobs and put your classroom learning into a career context.

- public engagement and events assistant (Art Gallery of Greater Victoria)
- collections and engagement assistant (Legacy Art Gallery)
