Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française (DELF/DALF)

The Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française (DELF) and Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF) are six separate diplomas issued by the French Ministry for National Education to certify the language skills of persons whose mother tongue is not French.

DELF/DALF evaluates language skills in four areas:

  • oral comprehension
  • oral expression
  • written comprehension
  • written expression

DELF/DALF Sessions 2026

Written tests (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written production) for all levels are paper-based and start at 9 am sharp.

 Duration of written tests:

DELF A2 - 1 hour 40 minutes (9 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.)

DELF B1 - 1 hour 55 minutes (9 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.)

DELF B2 - 2 hours 30 minutes (9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)

DALF C1 - 4 hours (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

The individual oral tests are typically scheduled for the afternoon following the written tests. The timings of individual oral tests are communicated during the week prior to the test session.

The DELF and DALF examinations cannot be taken online.

The November registration will open on October 6 and close on November 1

Costs vary depending on the exam level: 

  • A1 - A2: $190
  • B1 - B2: $280
  • C1 - C2: $375
