Paris on Stage field school
Immerse yourself in Parisian life! Paris on Stage is a transformative adventure in the heart of the French capital. Through museums and theatrical performances, you'll explore how Paris is represented in both past and present.
Structure
The Paris on Stage field school begins with a week of classes at the University of Victoria in early May, followed by 2 weeks in Paris. Students will complete coursework by the end of June. This 3.0-unit, 300-level course (FRAN 360A) is taught in French and is evaluated pass or fail.
Our next Paris on Stage Field School will be offered in Summer 2028.
Information sessions will be scheduled around November 2027.

L’édition de Paris en Scène 2026 a été une véritable expérience intellectuelle, humaine et sensible. Alors que les différentes visites de musée nous ont permis de mettre en scène la magnifique ville culturelle qu’est Paris et d’en comprendre la richesse et la diversité, les nombreuses performances théâtrales nous ont, elles, fait vivre des montagnes russes d’émotions rares, uniques et précieuses. Je suis très fière et émue à la pensée de ce petit collectif d’étudiant·es curieu·ses, bienveillant·es, drôles motivé·es et imaginatif·ves. BRAVO le FRAN 360A, édition 2026!
The 2026 edition of Paris on Stage was a truly intellectual, human, and emotional experience. While the various museum visits showcased the magnificent cultural city of Paris and demonstrated its richness and diversity, the numerous theatrical performances took us on a rare and unique emotional journey. I am very proud and moved by this small group of curious, kind, funny, motivated, and imaginative students. BRAVO FRAN 360A, 2026 edition!

Registration
Please send registration materials to Sara Harvey; the field school instructor.
- statement of purpose: A one-page summary of why you want to participate in the field school, your experience with the French language and culture, and theatre in general, due Dec. 15, 2027
- registration form: due Dec. 15, 2027
- oral interview: an oral interview will held early 2028
The course is limited to 15-20 participants.
Costs
The program cost is around $3200 (subject to change).
Included in program cost:
- Paris youth hostel accommodation (breakfast included)
- cultural activities (museums, shows, tours)
- final meal food cost
Not included in program cost:
- tuition
- round trip airfare
- additional meals
