About

Hello! My name is Kara (she/her) and I really look forward to meeting with you. I feel very lucky to have been living as an uninvited visitor on the lands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/ Esquimalt) Peoples since 2013. I was raised in Parksville, which is located on the traditional territory of the Qualicum First Nation and the Snaw-Naw-As First Nation. These are just two of the Coast Salish Nations whose ancestral lands and waters encompass the area.

In the spirit of reflection and respect, I acknowledge my relationship with this land, the water that surrounds us, and its animals—how they bring me peace, play, and connection to memory and family.

I enjoy travelling, sharing food and experiences with friends, going on hikes, being near the water, dancing, listening to music, car karaoke, reading, thrifting, and expressing myself through clothes!

Counselling approach

I am a second-year Master of Counselling Student here at the University of Victoria. Thank you so much for being a part of my learning and growth!

I am passionate about creating a safe, warm, and inviting space to share your experiences. I believe you are the expert of your own life and that my role is to be alongside you and offer different perspectives, skills, and resources when the time is right. I work in a collaborative, caring, gender-affirming, anti-oppressive, client-centered, and non-judgemental manner that suits people of all ages.
