Undergraduate research
Research based courses
Interested students have the opportunity to begin engaging in exciting research projects as they complete their undergraduate studies.
The courses below stray from traditional course structures and give students the chance to explore research areas of their interest.
- CHEM 298 (0 credits)
- CHEM 398 (0 credits)
- CHEM 399 (1.5 credits)
- CHEM 498 (3 credits)
- CHEM 499 (3 credits)
To enroll, students should explore current research projects in the department and find one that interests them. After looking, they are encouraged to email faculty directly and state interest in a CHEM 298, 398, 399, 498, or 499 project.

Exchange & Co-op
Exchange
Exchange programs help students leave their comfort zones and encourage independence as they complete research in new labs at different universities. Undergaduate students can participate in research at partner universities through the following programs:
Co-operative education (co-op)
Co-op is an immersive way for students to discover career options while getting valuable paid work experience. Among other things, there are many opportunities for interested chemistry students to apply to work on academic research projects.
