Chemdraw
The University of Victoria maintains a site-subscription for ChemDraw Prime, which is a leading chemical drawing software tool.
Where can I use ChemDraw?
- On your personal computer. Anyone with a UVic email address can download, install and use it for free.
- In UVic's general-access computing facilities
How do I install it?
For users to log into the Download Center and obtain a license to use the software, you will need to be registered.
- Go to the registration page and find the link for your institution. Clicking on the link will take you to a registration page where you will have to identify as a member of the University of Victoria. The Account ID field in the form will automatically fill in with your Account ID number.
- Visit the user registration page and enter your UVic email address for access
- You’ll be prompted to create a website user profile or log into an existing one. Note that this is handy for future re-access of the download and your activation code
- Once logged-in, you’ll be taken to the download page, where you can obtain the installers for both Windows and Mac platforms, as well as the software manual in PDF format
- An email containing your personal activation code will automatically be sent to your UVic email address, usually within a few minutes
- Run the installer and enter your activation code when prompted
- Ready to use
I didn't receive my activation code.
- Review the above or check Revvity Signal's Quick Start Guide and make sure you followed the correct steps.
- Check your UVic email account including the Junk/Spam email folder.
- If you still haven't received an activation code, request UVic IT support.
How do I re-activate my ChemDraw installation after UVic has renewed its annual site subscription?
- Run ChemDraw
- Help menu, Activate ChemDraw Prime
I want chemdraw installed on the multi-user computers in my UVic laboratory. What do I do?
For computers in multi-user scenarios such as classrooms or laboratories, it may not be practical for each user to apply one of their allotted activations to each computer; therefore, an alternative license-control scheme must be employed. Please inquire with the Department of Chemistry to discuss eligibility and deployment.
