Four CAPI interns win Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards!
Four students who are currently participating in CAPI’s International Internship Program are among the winners of the 2015-2016 Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Award (JCURA). CAPI Interns work with civil society organizations throughout Asia that work on community development and migrants’ rights issues.
- Jordan Konyk (Political Science, abstract) is working as a program assistant with the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
- Yasmine El-Hamamsy (Political Science, abstract) is working with the Malaysian Social Research Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- Nicola Craig Hora (Pacific and Asian Studies, abstract) and Kylie Pettifer (Geography, abstract) have worked with CITYNET in Yokohama, Japan.
These $1,500 research awards are designed to provide support for exceptional undergraduate students who might otherwise not be able to have direct research experience. Award recipients undertake a research investigation in dialogue with—and under the mentorship of—a faculty supervisor, and present their results at a Research Fair in the Spring.
