Note: English proficiency requirement for exchange students whose first language is not English is as  follows:

  • CEFR – B2
  • IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
  • TOEFL 76 overall, with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing

  • Writing 21

Essex will accept an IELTS or TOEFL certificate as proof of a student’s English ability.
