Tips for Success
One tip that I would offer new international students starting their program at UVic is... to take every opportunity that makes your time enjoyable at UVic.
One of the best ways for international students to get connected during their time at UVic would be… to follow groups and pages on social media or keep an eye on bulletin boards and digicasters around campus, because there’s always something going on that covers a variety of interests.
Student Success Tip: Don’t compare your failures to other people’s success stories. Everyone has their own path and eventually all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
About
I was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and lived there most of my life. I’m currently pursuing an MA at UVic. This is my 3rd time being an international student -- I have lived and studied in Italy, the United Kingdom and now Victoria.
I have dedicated most of my career to inclusive education. I have worked in various education projects at NGOs, government programs and in a school setting where my main goal was always to provide access to quality education for the most disadvantaged members of the community.
Interests
Crafts, and spending time in nature.
Fun fact
I find that people in Canada pronounce my name better than in my home country. It’s not a common name for women back home, so people often get confused and mispronounce it or call me by a completely different name.
