Public sector

The government of Canada does most of its hiring through the Public Service Commission (PSC). You can register for training programs and apply for full-time, summer or part-time jobs on their website.

Here are some examples of some of the positions available through the PSC:

  • airport customer officer
  • border patrol agent
  • community services director
  • cultural affairs officer
  • custom official
  • foreign service officer
  • foreign correspondant
  • foreign student advisor
  • immigration officer
  • import/export advisor
  • international communications specialist
  • peace corps worker
  • public relations specialist
  • tourism director
  • special events coordinator

Most Ministries use the Commission for recruitment. Jobs in Immigration, the Foreign Service, and Domestic Affairs are all posted on this website. It is possible to create a membership and post a resume on the site for potential employers to view.

Other departments do their own recruiting. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is one example. You can apply directly on their website: www.canada.ca/en/security-intelligence-service/corporate/csis-jobs.html
