Petrarch's Poetry and Legacy (in English)

Poet, scholar, humanist, and frustrated lover, Francis Petrarch (1304-74) still provokes controversy with his sonnets and harsh social criticism. We’ll read selections from his poetry and prose, explore the relevant historical and political background, and trace his influence on modern thought.
