To be considered for 2018 admission, you must complete and submit both the UVic and School of Social Work components of the application. Both must be received no later than midnight January 31st, 2018.

The department will begin making admission decisions for the May entry point in late March. Decisions for the September entry point will begin in mid to late May. You will be notified of the decision and receive other information normally via email. It is important that you keep all your contact information up to date. Please do not contact the department regarding impending decisions.

Please note: the distance education program option is available to students residing in Canada only, and requires a mandatory five day session held on-campus at UVic as part of SOCW 312.

Please follow each of the steps below to complete your application:

Step One: Introduction

Step Two: Complete your My UVic Application

You will be required to submit an application in order to be considered for the BSW program.

UVic Undergraduate Admissions Application (if you are new to UVic)
UVic Undergraduate Records Program Change request (current UVic student) or Re-registration request (if you are a returning UVic student)

All of this is done via the My UVic Application. Failure to submit a My UVic Application and submit all transcripts by the deadlines indicated will result in non-admission to the BSW program.

Step Three: Complete your School of Social Work application

In addition to submitting the My UVic Application, you are also required to submit an application package electronically to the School of Social Work. No personal references are required; please do not submit them with your application.

To ensure legibility, the BSW application forms must be completed on your computer, then saved as pdf files and sent as attachments per the directions below:

•    Supplementary Information Form
•    Written Submission
•    Practicum Question

Step Four: Submit your BSW application electronically to the School of Social Work

Send an email to – in the subject line list your Last Name, First Name

Attach as pdf files- identify each document with your Last Name, First Name and number them in order (note: please use the number not the document name):

1.    Supplementary Information Form
2.    Written Submission
3.    Practicum Question

It is your responsibility to ensure that your application is complete and received by the deadline. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be accepted.

Deadline: The deadline for applications to be received by our office for the 2018 BSW admission intake is midnight on January 31, 2018.

You will receive a confirmation email to the email address indicated on your supplementary information form when your application package has been received AND processed - note that is can take up to 14 working days to be processed.
