Our faculty members, Mehmoona Moosa-Mitha and Bruce Wallace, have just published a joint research article “Lessons Learnt on Designing a Community-Based Participatory Research Study on Trauma: A Qualitative Study with Arabic Speaking Refugee Newcomers and Their Service Providers” in Canadian Journal of Action Research.

Please join us in this panel presentation for Social Work Week - Beyond Race Theory: Centering BIPOC Student Voices and Experiences in the Bachelor of Social Work Program at UVic. Five BSW students from UVic will talk about their experiences in the program and the importance of centering Indigenous, Black, and other racialized perspectives in academic spaces.

Elias 10 Year Legacy

Dr. Elias Cheboud was that child-leader. A graduate of UVic and UBC in Social Work and Education, we recently remembered the 10 year anniversary of his untimely death. He was a teacher and peacemaker in Canada and Ethiopia and his legacy lives on. Many students from Ethiopia have interned at UVic and gone on to contribute greatly to their home country.
