UVic School of Social Work Statement on Orlando

All of us at the School of Social Work at UVIC want to extend our condolences to the families, friends, and lovers of those who died or were injured in the Orlando shooting. We stand against hatred and violence in solidarity with LGBTQ communities, particularly LGBTQQ2 communities of colour, and all those who are marginalized, vilified and targeted.

Registration with the BC College of Social Workers

The BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW) is the regulatory body for the practice of social work in British Columbia. Their mandate is to protect the public interest by establishing and supporting high standards for qualified Registered Social Workers. At this time in BC, not all social work positions require registration with BCCSW. However, many agencies are changing their policies and beginning to make this a requirement for employment. Applications for registration should be submitted to the College well in advance of graduation to allow time for processing. Students can review the BCCSW site at the link below for information regarding registration.

As of September 1st, 2015 students will be required to successfully complete a Licensure Exam as part of the BCCSW registration process. Information regarding the exam can be found at the link below:

You may also want to connect with your fellow students at to share information regarding exam preparation.

Please send any enquiries you may have about registration to the BCCSW directly:
