UVic retirement information
Effective January 1, 2008 the provincial government implemented changes to the BC Human Rights Code with the effect that mandatory retirement policies are now considered age discrimination under the code.
The effect of this change has been to eliminate mandatory retirement. This means that you are no longer required to retire from the university at age 65 (normal retirement date).
