Application Information for the September 2026 intake is now listed below.

Please use the steps below to guide you through the application process. Applications are open from October 1 - January 2. This program starts every year in September.

Applications for the B.Ed Elementary PDPP and B.Ed Secondary PDPP are due January 2

Things to know before you apply

  • If you have already completed part or all of another Teacher Education Program, please contact Education Advising before submitting your application at least one month before the application deadline.
  • If you want to take summer courses outside of UVic, consult Education Advising. The academic requirements for this program must be complete by April 30. Any courses taken after this date won't count toward the requirements but the grades may still impact your eligibility.
  • If you apply late your application will be considered only if space remains in the program after all on-time, eligible applicants have been admitted. Your application will also be considered late if any of your documents are submitted after they are due.

1. Online application

Submit your application by January 2

Instructions for completing your online application:

When completing your application, you will first need to indicate that you already hold a bachelor's degree in order to view the available PDPP options. If your degree is still in progress, you can enter a future degree completion date (April 30 at the latest).

Be prepared to list every high school, college, and university you have attended, including any Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or exchange studies, as well as any studies that you later transferred to another college or university. You will also need to provide details of all in-progress or registered coursework for both the fall and spring terms.

  • When declaring AP studies, look for “College Board of Canada (AP)”
  • When declaring IB studies look under “high schools attended”
  • Depending on your situation, you may or may not get the option to include your AP and IB studies when declaring your institutions. Regardless, you will need to send your official AP and IB transcripts.
  • Your application checklist will be built using the information you enter in your application. So while AP and IB transcripts are required, if you weren’t able to add them to your application, they won’t show on your checklist until UVic receives them.

If you are interested in French teacher education options, be sure to indicate this under the “program-specific questions” section of the application. Applicants to the Secondary PDPP must identify their teachable subject area(s), while applicants to the Elementary PDPP will be asked to specify whether they wish to complete the program at the Victoria or Cranbrook campus.

  • If any official transcripts are missing, we cannot review your application.

4. First Nation, Métis and Inuit applicants

If you have Indigenous ancestry, and would like to be considered for this quota, please email the supplementary form to colleenjuricic@uvic.ca

5. Additional Information

 If applicable:

Submit optional graduate student status letter by February 28

You must not be registered in a graduate program, or any other program, while you are completing this degree program.

If you’re currently registered in a graduate program, provide a letter from your university stating that your graduate program requirements will be completed before the start of the program, or that you’ll be taking a leave of absence from that program for the duration of this B.Ed. program.

Send your letter to the Undergraduate Admissions Office

The Undergraduate Admissions Office may require a transcript showing final grades for any attempted summer courses by July 31. Please consult with Education Advising if applicable.

French

Submit your language proficiency by May 31

If you are applying to Elementary PDPP French cohort or Secondary PDPP French teachable subject area, you must demonstrate French language proficiency as part of your application by satisfying one of the following requirements:

  • Completion of the DELF B2 certificate (tout public or scolaire).
  • Completion of the TCF (Test de connaissance du français Canada) with a score of B2 or higher
  • An official post-secondary transcript from studies at an institution (one-year equivalent minimum) where French is the main language of instruction (e.g. Université de Montréal).

DELF testing

UVic’s School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures offers DELF testing. Please visit their DELF information page for more information about test times and to book an exam.

Where to submit your results

Arrange for your official DELF/ TCF certificate to be sent by May 31 to:

Education Advising
Faculty of Education
University of Victoria
PO Box 1700 STN CSC
Victoria, BC, V8W 2Y2

Note: The Faculty of Education reserves the right to impose currency requirements on language proficiency exams.

Spanish

Your Spanish language proficiency needs to be submitted by May 31

All Secondary PDPP candidates applying with a Spanish teachable subject area (both native and non-native speakers) must successfully pass a Spanish language competency examination (oral and written) by May 31

UVic’s School of Languages, Linguistics, and Cultures facilitates this exam after you have applied, and it normally occurs in April. Education Advising will reach out to you to organize this exam if you indicate the Spanish teachable subject area on your application.

Where to submit your results

The examiner at UVic will automatically issue the results to Education Advising on your behalf.

Next steps

To see your application checklist log into My UVic Application. Use the checklist to confirm when all transcripts and other required items have been received.

Notes:

  • If you are attending the same institution (other than UVic) in the January to April term as you are in the Fall term, you’ll see at least two entries for that institution on the checklist: one with a January 31 deadline and another with a May 31 deadline.
  • It can take two to three weeks from the time an item is received at UVic for it to be recorded on the checklist.
  • The date a transcript is received at UVic determines whether it is considered on time or late, not the date that UVic staff upload it to your checklist

Cancelling your application:  Email Education Advising at adve@uvic.ca and Undergraduate Admissions with your request to cancel your application.

If you wish to apply to a different faculty for September, include this request in your email to Undergraduate Admissions.

Education Advising will contact you in:

Mid-May
  • to make a conditional offer of admission, to explain why you are not eligible for admission, or to cancel your application if it is incomplete.

May-June

  • to confirm your offer of admission, to withdraw a conditional offer of admission, or to place you on a waitlist

July-August

  • to offer you admission if you have been waitlisted and a seat becomes available

Please be aware that offers of admission are time-sensitive. If you will not have access to email for more than a week during application processing, contact Education Advising

Waitlist: If a waitlist spot becomes available, Education Advising will email you right away. The email will include a deadline for you to respond. You may receive an offer from the waitlist during the summer.

  • Confirm your acceptance by responding to your admission offer email from Education Advising by the deadline shown.
  • Submit the $150 Faculty of Education acceptance deposit to Education Advising by the deadline in your offer email.
  • if you’re new to UVic, submit the UVic acceptance deposit by the deadline.

Both deposits are applied toward your tuition fees

Note:
Offers of admission cannot be deferred. If you can't start the program in the year in which you were admitted, you may re-apply for a future year.

Education Advising will send you course registration instructions including  a timetable and a list of specific courses. Please wait to receive this information before registering for your courses.

You might receive an email from UVic with your registration date and time in June before you receive your registration timetable information, and that's ok!  Rest assured that your spot in your classes is reserved if you have been admitted.
