Application Information for the September 2026 intake is now listed below.

Please use the steps below to guide you through the application process. Applications are open October 1 - January 31. This program starts every year in September.

Applications for B.Ed Elementary curriculum - core professional studies are due January 31

Things to know before you apply

  • If you have already completed part or all of another Teacher Education Program, please contact Education Advising before submitting your application and at least one month before the application deadline.
  • If you want to take summer courses outside of UVic, consult Education Advising. The academic requirements for this program must be complete by April 30.  Any courses taken after this date won’t count toward the requirement, but the grades may still impact your eligibility.
  • If you apply late your application will be considered only if space remains in the program after all on-time, eligible applicants have been admitted. Your application will also be considered late if any of your documents are submitted after they are due.

1. Online application

Submit your application by January 31

Instructions for completing your online application:

Be prepared to list every high school, college, and university you have attended, including any Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or exchange studies, as well as any studies that you later transferred to another college or university. You will also need to provide details of all in-progress and/or registered coursework for both the fall and spring terms.

  • When declaring AP studies, look for “College Board of Canada (AP)”
  • When declaring IB studies look under “high schools attended”
  • Depending on your situation, you may or may not get the option to include your AP and IB studies when declaring your institutions. Regardless, you will need to send your official AP and IB transcripts.
  • Your application checklist will be built using the information you enter in your application. So while AP and IB transcripts are required, if you weren’t able to add them to your application, they won’t show on your checklist until they are received by UVic.

If you are interested in French teacher education options, be sure to indicate this under the “program-specific questions” section of the application. You will also be asked to specify whether you wish to complete the program at the Victoria or Cranbrook campus.

Apply for core professional studies (program years 2-4)

Contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office with any questions about your application.

2. Experience requirement

Complete and submit by January 31

Complete and submit your experience requirement when submitting your program application through the application portal.

3. Official transcripts

Have your official transcripts sent directly to UVic from every previous high school, college and university (AP/IB) you've attended, including withdrawn, incomplete, failed, repeated, and exchange studies.

Official Transcript due dates

January 31

  • Transcripts that show grades for all courses attempted to December
  • Transcripts that show all in-progress course registrations January - April

May 31

  • Transcripts that show grades for all courses attempted January - April

Tips!

  • You do not need to order your UVic transcripts as we have access to those records.
  • For all courses attempted January - April, order your transcript(s) as soon as second-term grades are available.
  • If any official transcripts are missing, we cannot review your application.

4. First Nation, Métis and Inuit applicants

Submit this optional form if applicable by January 31

The Faculty of Education is committed to increasing the number of First Nations, Métis and Inuit teachers and has reserved 5% of the positions in teacher education programs for applicants who meet the Faculty of Education’s admission requirements.

If you have Indigenous ancestry, and would like to be considered for this quota, please email the supplementary form to colleenjuricic@uvic.ca

Note: If you need help with the form or have questions, please call (250) 721-7824.

Next steps

To see your application checklist log into My UVic Application. Use the checklist to confirm when all transcripts and other required items have been received.

Notes:

  • If you are attending the same institution (other than UVic) in the January to April 2026 term as you are in the Fall 2025 term, you’ll see at least two entries for that institution on the checklist: one with a January 31 deadline and another with a May 31 deadline.
  • It can take two to three weeks from the time an item is received at UVic for it to be recorded on the checklist.
  • The date a transcript is received at UVic determines whether it is considered on time or late, not the date that UVic staff upload it to your checklist

Cancelling your application:  Email Education Advising at adve@uvic.ca and Undergraduate Admissions with your request to cancel your application.

If you wish to apply to a different faculty for September, include this request in your email to Undergraduate Admissions.

Education Advising will contact you in:

Mid-June

  • to make a conditional offer of admission, to explain why you are not eligible for admission, or to cancel your application if it is incomplete.

June-July

  • to confirm your offer of admission, to withdraw a conditional offer of admission, or to place you on a waitlist

July-August

  • to offer you admission if you have been waitlisted and a seat becomes available

Please be aware that offers of admission are time sensitive. If you will not have access to email for more than a week during application processing, contact Education Advising

Waitlist: If a waitlist spot becomes available, Education Advising will email you right away. The email will include a deadline for you to respond. You may receive an offer from the waitlist during the summer.

  • Confirm your acceptance by responding to your admission offer email from Education Advising by the deadline shown.
  • Submit the $150 Faculty of Education acceptance deposit to Education Advising by the deadline in your offer email.
  • if you’re new to UVic, submit the UVic acceptance deposit by the deadline.

Both deposits are applied toward your tuition fees

Note:  Offers of admission cannot be deferred. If you can't start the program in the year in which you were admitted, you may re-apply for a future year.

Education Advising will send you course registration instructions including  a timetable and a list of specific courses. Please wait to receive this information before registering for your courses.

You might receive an email from UVic with your registration date and time in June before you receive your registration timetable information, and that's ok!  Rest assured that your spot in your classes is reserved if you have been admitted.
