Office of the President
The President and Vice-Chancellor provides overall leadership to the university. It’s their responsibility to fulfill the university’s vision and mission. The president directs the operation of the university, including its academic work, business affairs and alumni relations. They also oversee government relations and engagement with the broader community.
President Kevin Hall

Kevin Hall is the president of the University of Victoria. His five-year term began Nov. 1, 2020. Read about his appointment.
Hall is an innovative academic leader and civil engineer, known for his strong commitment to community engagement and research excellence. Before UVic, Hall’s 35-year career is defined by his leadership in issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, access to education and sustainability. He has held leadership roles at Queen’s University, the University of Guelph, and most recently, the University of Newcastle (Australia). Over the coming years his experience will help to advance UVic’s global reputation in these areas and more.
Welcome to the Territory & Installation Ceremony
Following Coast Salish protocol, President Hall formally requested permission to work on lək̓ʷəŋən territory prior to being installed as UVic’s eighth president and vice-chancellor at a ceremony hosted by Chancellor Shelagh Rogers and the Office of Indigenous Academic & Community Engagement. The virtual ceremony was shared on September 28, 2021.

Qwul’sih’yah’maht Robina Thomas is the Vice-President Indigenous (VPI). The VPI provides leadership and direction that furthers UVic's commitment to truth, respect and reconciliation as identified in our Strategic Framework and the Indigenous Plan. Robina is a member of the executive team.
Robina was appointed Associate Vice-President Indigenous in April 2021 and has become VP Indigenous effective April 2022.
Global Engagement & International
UVic is seeking to appoint a new Associate Vice-President Global Engagement who will provide strategic and inspired leadership to enhance the university’s global connectivity and international profile in fulfillment of the university’s vision and mission.
Our team

Sally Eshuys
As Director of the Office of the President, I lead the president's team, provide strategic advice to President Hall, and work with my colleagues across campus to implement UVic's institutional priorities and initiatives.

As Communications and Research Analyst, I provide project management, writing, research and analytical support on a variety of issues, initiatives and projects. I prepare speeches, presentations, reports, plans and briefings for the president.

As Communications Advisor, I provide communications planning and advice, and coordinate with communicators across campus. I ensure that the UVic and external communities are aware of the president's activities and priorities.

As the Executive Assistant to the president, I provide executive and administrative coordinating support to the president’s activities, including managing the calendar, arrangements and briefing materials.

As Administrative Assistant, I respond to general office information and inquiries and provide administrative support for the Director and presidential committees and councils.


VP Indigenous

As Project Manager, I provide project management, writing and research support on a variety of issues, initiatives, and projects led by the Vice-President Indigenous.

As Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President Indigenous, I provide calendar management, meeting and committee support, community outreach and relationship building with local Indigenous communities.
Strategic planning
Creating a new vision for the University of Victoria is an exciting opportunity for all of us as we consider what the future might hold and how UVic can position itself well for that future.
We want your help in developing UVic’s next strategic plan, which will weave our institutional plans together and present an ambitious and aspirational vision. It will highlight where we want UVic to be in 30 years and establish an initial 5-year action plan for achieving our vision.
Listening tour
President Kevin Hall began his role as president of the University of Victoria in November 2020 with a President's Listening Tour. He spent months meeting with our community to listen and learn about our university, about our strengths and about what is important to our community.
Campus Kudos
Campus Kudos in a series of informal events hosted by President Hall to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements and accomplishments of our talented and hard-working faculty, staff, and students.
