David is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Fellow. He holds Honours Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Political Science from McMaster University and a Master's degree in Political Economy from the University of Waterloo.

David's doctoral research focuses on the intersections of private and public power within international investment agree​ments. While at UVic, he has contributed research in the following areas: transnational law and governance; investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS); theorizing corporate power in the global political economy; international tax law and tax avoidance; global supply chains; and corporate social responsibility. David has a recent co-authored chapter in the edited volume The Politics of Private Transnational Governance by Contract (2017).
