Our medium-sized department is renowned for a critically-oriented, interdisciplinary approach to political science. We are committed to excellence in research and teaching.

We have well-established and well-known programs in Canadian politics, comparative politics, international relations and political theory. Our faculty engage in a wide variety of scholarly activity, from conference and workshop organization to publications.

Our research focus is closely aligned with the university‘s and the Faculty of Social Sciences’ strategic plans, including globalization, equity and diversity and Indigenization.

Our faculty are also closely connected to interdisciplinary research programs on campus. These include the interdisciplinary Cultural, Social and Political Theory graduate program, the European Politics group, the Centre for Global Studies, the Centre for Indigenous Research and Community Led Engagement and the Centre for Asia Pacific Studies.
