The School of Environmental Studies warmly congratulates Eric Higgs on the publication of Mountain Voices: The Mountain Legacy Project and a Century of Change in Western Canada, a richly collaborative volume that has been in development since 2018 and is now formally in print.

Co-edited by Eric Higgs alongside Kristen Walsh, Zac Robinson and Mary Sanseverino, Mountain Voices brings together 50 short essays inspired by historical images from the Mountain Legacy Project digital archives. The collection reflects a wide range of voices and perspectives, weaving together environmental history, cultural reflection and place-based insight.

The book features contributions from several members of the School of Environmental Studies community, including Nancy Turner, graduate students Chris Rhodes and Julie Fortin, and former JCURA student Ellie Stephenson.

Published by University of Calgary Press, Mountain Voices stands as a significant and deeply collaborative achievement, reflecting years of careful editorial work, relationship-building and shared intellectual effort.

The School is delighted to celebrate this milestone and to recognize the many contributors whose voices and insights shape the collection.
