Lindsey Schneider

New Associate Professor Dr. Lindsey Schneider brings an Indigenous-led, community-centred approach to research and teaching in Environmental Studies. Her work explores settler colonialism, Indigenous feminisms and land and water relationships, with a particular focus on salmon and the ways ecology, politics and Indigeneity intersect.

In a new Faculty of Social Sciences researcher profile, Lindsey reflects on what Indigenous-led scholarship means in practice, what gives her hope in the classroom, the influences that shaped her path into academia, and the questions she hopes to explore at UVic around Indigenous fisheries governance across geopolitical borders.
