Co-op & Career Teaching Assistant (4 available positions)

Note: This is a TA position offered by UVic Co-op and not by the Department of Chemistry. Senior undergraduate students and graduate students will be prioritized.
This fall 2026, UVic Co-operative Education will offer program-specific pre-work term preparation courses called Introduction to Professional Practice (IPP) within Optional and Professional Programs (OPP). The program-specific IPP courses are offered in person and online via Brightspace. IPP courses vary in their instructional format and assignment requirements depending on the co-op program. Course goals are to provide co-op students with a solid understanding of: the competency framework, job finding practices, and career development planning. IPP includes a series of assignments that require TA support for marking. The hiring committee will assign successful candidates to support specific co-op programs by considering applicants experience, skills, knowledge and availability.
Online marking through Brightspace may include the following assignments:
- Résumés
- Cover letters
- Networking: LinkedIn Profiles or other networking assignments
- Reflective Analysis
FALL 2026 CO-OP IPP COURSES ARE SCHEDULED WITHIN THE FOLLOWING OPP CO-OP PROGRAMS:
- Education
- Fine Arts
- Health
- Humanities
- Law
- Science
- Social Sciences
Estimated hours per TA (subject to change): 160 hours
Projected marking dates range from Oct 5, 2026 to Dec. 15, 2026
Salary: $34.72 per hour
Mandatory paid training will be scheduled in September 2026 (approximately 5 hours)
***NOTE: The marking schedule and average hours of work varies for each TA position. TA assignment to the co-op program is determined by the Hiring Committee based on TA experience, skills, knowledge and availability.
