Linguistics - PhD (2013)

Immediately following his graduation from the University of Victoria, Scott worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, where he used techniques such as MRI to study the relationship between vocal tract variation and the way we produce speech sounds. He currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. There, he enjoys teaching and doing research about how the anatomy and physiology of speech ("the meat of speech" as he's fond of saying) shape or influence the sounds we use in speech.
