Claire Bandy (environmental studies)

A student wearing climbing gear stands in a cave with light coming from above.

Claire (she/her) spent four months working as a cave guide with Horne Lake Caves - Hidden Realm Adventures Inc. on Vancouver Island.

Educating the public

As an environmental studies student, Claire was able to put her studies into practice and spend time in one of BC's unique caving systems.

"I guided visitors through the caves, and taught them about the delicate ecosystem that has evolved in them and their importance," says Claire.

"I was able to help educate these visitors about terrain that they might not have otherwise have known about."

An impactful experience

"Co-op is a great way to begin applying the skills you've learn in class and helps give you the education that in-class settings aren't always able to provide."
