Accommodation letters

Once you are registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL), you need to share your accommodations with your instructors every term so they can apply your accommodations in your courses. This includes booking assessments like quizzes and exams with the CAL Assessments Program.

How to share your letter

  • go to the “Release accommodation letters” section of CAL Online Student Services
  • select the correct term with the “Show Term” menu
  • use the "Request” button for whichever course you want, or any “Request” button if you want to release all your letters at once
  • select the accommodations you want to share this term and courses you want to share them for
  • select "The accommodations above are correct”, or select “The accommodations above are not correct” and describe the problem in the text box
  • read the confidentiality statement so you understand who might receive your letter
  • check the "I agree to the terms outlined above” box and select the “Submit" button

Your instructors will receive an email with a secure link to open and review your letter.

We also have a step-by-step tutorial video for releasing your letters.

How to download & deliver your letter

Some courses do not have an instructor assigned in UVic’s record system, such as co-op positions, thesis courses or individual tuition courses. In that case you will have to deliver the letter yourself.

  • go to the “Release accommodation letters” section of CAL Online Student Services
  • select the correct term with the “Show Term” menu
  • select the “Get letter” button to download your letter as a PDF
  • deliver your letter in person, by email or however appropriate
