Generic remote desktop service provides a secure remote Windows desktop where you can use office apps, Acrobat Pro, Remark Office OMR and enterprise applications. You can use the remote desktop to use software that's not compatible with your personal device or to access UVic systems securely while working from home.

We only take payment for services by internal budget (FAST) transfer so provisioning must be initiated or sponsored by a budget administrator. If you're not sure how to start a request, ask your supervisor, department admin, faculty sponsor or PI.

Use remote desktop

To use remote desktop, you'll need:

  • to be connected to the Internet on campus or with the VPN
  • Remote Desktop Connection for Windows or Windows App (formerly Microsoft Remote Desktop) for all other platforms
