About

Hello! My name is Boston Laferté and my pronouns are he/him. I am one of the Lutheran Co-Spiritual Care Providers.

I am a Métis person who grew up in Treaty 8 territory in northern Alberta, and I moved to Victoria in 2018 to attend the University of Victoria.

In 2022, I completed my BA double majoring in History and Indigenous Studies. That same year I wrote the Law School Admission Test, and entered the JD/JID (Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders) joint degree program. I finished law school in April 2026, and am currently an articling student.

Leading up to and during my time in law school, I felt a strong call to seek ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. I started my Master of Divinity part-time at Lutheran Theological Seminary Saskatoon in 2023 while in law school. I am not quite finished yet, but I have already learned and experienced a great deal to help equip me for pastoral care.

I am very passionate about a theology of inclusion and liberation. No person is separated from the love of God, and we should do all we can to care for each other as humanity, and our relations in the natural world. I am also passionate about the blending of my own Indigenous spiritual practices with my Christianity.

Beyond my schooling, I love reading fiction books and theological texts and playing video games.

I am always happy to chat with students, so please feel free to send an email and we can arrange something.
