French as a second language

  • Exchange students can take courses in French as a second language during the fall or winter sessions. The School of Languages charges an extra fee for Francais langue seconde (FLS) level courses.

Credits

  • Courses offered through the Political Science department at the University of Victoria and Université Laval have been pre-evaluated for transfer credit and academic equivalency.
  • Other Laval courses in Social Sciences can be submitted for pre-evaluation to determine exchange credit. 
  • Exchange students will receive more information about courses and credits on exchange after they have been accepted into the ICS Exchange Program. 

Housing

On-campus housing: Guaranteed

  • A limited number of rooms are reserved for exchange students. Please note that leases are for 8 months, and students who only attend ULaval for one term will need to end their lease early and incur additional fees.

Medical Insurance, Immigration & Arrival

Orientation: Available

  • There is a two-day welcome fair called "La Rentree UL" during the first week of classes. Exchange students will be able to register through the Laval Faculty of Social Sciences. 

Health Insurance: Mandatory

  • Comprehensive information about health and hospitalization insurance is available on the ULaval site, along with exemption criteria.
