Research focus
I study the evolution of Earth's surface environment over geologic timescales, and in particular focus on the interactions between the biosphere, climate, sea level and ocean geochemistry.
To this end, Earth's sedimentary carapace is our only archive that documents the ~4 billion year recorded history of the surface environment. Thus, my work is grounded in field observations of sediments — particularly of carbonates — precipitating that simultaneously record information about the chemical, physical and biological conditions in which they formed.
