There are several ways to fund your research, including external and internal funding opportunities, contracts and donations.

Internal grants
Internal grants help UVic faculty prepare for larger external grants and share their research results.
These grants include support for:
- publications of scholarly books and creative work
- internal research/creative project grants
- assistance with research-related travel costs
External grants
External grants are funding opportunities at local, provincial, national and international levels. Major sources of research funding are:
- Tri-Agencies: CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC
- Mitacs
- foundations
- governments
Institutional programs
Institutional programs manages UVic’s participation in national and provincial major research infrastructure grant programs. Our support includes:
- liaising with funding partners, such as Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI)
- helping selected researchers prepare their applications
- managing awarded projects
