EurekAlert! Sharing UVic Research with the World

December 01, 2025

Twelve thousand journalists in 90 countries find their next research stories on EurekAlert!, a platform run by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Since July 2025, UVic has ramped up our activity on EurekAlert!, sharing news releases, expert Q&As and feature stories. Ranging from the clean energy potential in Cumberland’s old coal mines through searching for alien life to an ancient but overlooked seismic fault in the Yukon Territory, they’ve been seen tens of thousands of times and picked up by journalists around the world.

Our engagement with EurekAlert! supports Aspiration 2030’s Societal Impact action #8: “Increase our capacity to communicate research successes and strengths in real time to broad audiences.”

If you have a new publication coming up or some transformative research findings that deserve a global audience, please tell your faculty or centre communications person, or the Research Profile team.

The world needs good science stories; let’s share yours.
