This committee is responsible for strategic planning, as well as the establishment and oversight of the Plan's mission, goals, and policies.

Kane Kilbey (Chair)

Kane (he/him) has had the privilege of working on these lands as the AVP, Human Resources for the past 15 years.  He is also a UVic alumus (B.A. 1988). He is a fourth-generation uninvited settler of European and Scandinavian decent.

As a team of human resources professionals, HR’s role is to provide integrated, inclusive HR programs, services, guidance, and expertise that uplifts ʔetal nəwəl | ÁTOL,NEUEL in support of the UVic Pledge, university priorities, and the culture that we aspire to create across our campus community. He is pleased to support these priorities with respect to the pension plans.

Mr. Andrew Coward

Andrew is the Associate Vice-President of Financial Planning and Operations at the University of Victoria. He has been with UVic since 2004, in various roles such as Treasurer and Acting Director of Pension Services. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce and obtained his Canadian Risk Management Designation from the University of Toronto. Andrew is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the Victoria CFA Society. He oversees UVic's budget and budget planning process, financial reporting, pension and investment services, treasury and risk management, as well as capital, space, campus planning, and sustainability efforts.

Kristi Simpson

Kristi Simpson is the VP Finance and Operations at the UVic, having joined UVic in 2003.  She is a proud UVic grad with a BA in economics and a Vikes Alum, playing volleyball for UVic for 4 years. She is a professional accountant who holds a CPA, CA designation. She is an inclusive, mission and priorities driven collaborative leader who believes the VPFO role and team, as current stewards of the traditional lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, have a special responsibility to understand its history and to engage with, learn from and uplift Indigenous leadership and knowledge. When not at the office, Kristi enjoys the outdoors - hiking, skiing, golfing and walking her dog. She loves to travel and read and can be seen supporting our Vikes athletes.

Ms. Randi Topp, FSA, FCIA

Randi is the Executive Director, Pensions and Plan Governance here at UVic.  She has been with UVic since July 2023, having previously worked in the pension and investment industry for over 25 years. Randi started her career as a retirement plan actuary and consultant at a global consulting company, moved on to provide strategic leadership and oversight internally for various defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans and related investments at one of the largest global companies in BC, and most recently worked as an investment consultant, guiding and monitoring investment strategies and policies for large institutional investors such as pension plans, foundations and trusts.
