Credits
Credits at UPVM:
- Full-time option (7.5 UVic units): 30 ECTS per term at UPVM
Course Evaluations at UVic:
- Before departure, UVic students will be able to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will indicate how many UVic units each exchange course is worth, as well as the course equivalency.
- Students must use the evaluation results to ensure their exchange courses credits add up to the equivalent UVic units. The total number of units for each exchange term should be 4.5 UVic units for part-time exchange or 7.5 UVic units for full-time exchange.
- This course evaluation process will be made available and explained in detail during the pre-departure session in early October for Spring exchange terms and in late March for Fall exchange terms. Evaluations take 2-6 weeks to complete and will be emailed to students.
- Course evaluations results are tentative until the end of the exchange term, when a second, final evaluation is conducted by OREM using the students’ exchange transcript, and the results are applied to their UVic record.

Etudes en France
UVic students studying on exchange in France will need to familiarize themselves with the French national agency called Campus France. This agency utilizes the Etudes en France (EEF) platform to streamline the immigration process for exchange students.
- When a student receives an acceptance letter from their French host university, they will need to register with Etudes en France and upload their supporting documents.
- Fee: $150 processing fee for EEF application.
- Once the EEF application is approved, the student will receive a confirmation document with an EEF number needed for the visa application.
- Use the EEF number to create an account on the official website for visas to France, which will compile all documents and provide a summary of the visa application.
- Students will then be able to book an in-person appointment with VFS Global, which collects the passport, visa application package, and biometric data to process the visa.
Medical insurance, immigration & arrival
Medical insurance: Mandatory
- All exchange students must provide UPVM with proof of health insurance coverage (couverture santé)., which includes universal and unlimited repatriation insurance during their study period.
-
There are two options:
1) providing proof of insurance purchased from country of origin, which clearly confirms health insurance and civil liability (first name, last name, repatriation, date of coverage which include the duration of your mobility).
2) purchasing a French private insurance (for instance HEYME). They provide a health insurance “IWIF” for international students, which allows them to choose the coverage period, as well as the reimbursement rate (70% or 90%). Students will pay a base fee and then be reimbursed either via a French bank account or via their home country bank account.
