Students from the US, Canada, Hong Kong, India and Singapore who are studying in Liverpool for
Semester 1 only may sit written in-person exams at their home campus. All other students must be
present in Liverpool. ALL students are required to sit Semester 2 exams in Liverpool.

Credits at York:
- Full-time option (7.5 UVic units): 60 UK credits per term at Liverpool
Course Evaluations at UVic:
- Before departure, UVic students will be able to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will indicate how many UVic units each exchange course is worth, as well as the course equivalency.
- Students must use the evaluation results to ensure their exchange courses credits add up to the equivalent UVic units. The total number of units for each exchange term should be 4.5 UVic units for part-time exchange or 7.5 UVic units for full-time exchange.
- This course evaluation process will be made available and explained in detail during the pre-departure session in early October for Spring exchange terms and in late March for Fall exchange terms. Evaluations take 2-6 weeks to complete and will be emailed to students.
- Course evaluations results are tentative until the end of the exchange term, when a second, final evaluation is conducted by OREM using the students’ exchange transcript, and the results are applied to their UVic record.
Exchange credit history
- New partner, no credit history available yet
- After being accepted into the ICS Exchange Program, students will have the chance to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will provide updated unit and credit equivalency information.
Transcript Information
Host university transcript release varies by school and region. As a result, students should plan their exchange and return to UVic accordingly.
At the University of Liverpool, semester 1 exam results are usually published in mid-March, transcripts will be sent directly to
partners by the end of April. Semester 2 exam results are usually released at the start of July,
transcripts will be sent directly to partners by mid-August.
Exchange students are responsible for requesting their host university send their final official exchange transcript directly to the ICS exchange team at goglobal@uvic.ca, as soon as it is available.
Housing
Semester-only students:
Students staying in Liverpool for a single semester can apply for an on-campus room. Many of our on-
campus rooms are in Melville Grove, Tudor Close and Vine Court (self-catered, single study bedroom
with shared kitchen). Vine Court offers en-suite rooms and some semi-catered options.
• In Semester 1, on-campus accommodation is competitive, and rooms are assigned by lottery –
around 80% of students are placed. Accommodation in the private sector in Semester 1 can be
hard to find.
• In Semester 2 we guarantee accommodation
Students also note that the contract and cost for the University halls of residence will cover the whole
semester, even if the student returns home early.
Full year students:
Students staying for a full year will be guaranteed accommodation in any UoL Hall of Residence of their
choosing.

Students will receive information on how to apply for accommodation after they complete Stage 1 of
the application.
Medical Insurance, Immigration & Orientation
Visa:
- Students who are studying with us for less than 6 months may not need to apply for a visa before
travelling to the UK, if they are eligible to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisaton), please see
here for details.
All students who will study at the University of Liverpool for a Full Academic Year will require a Student Visa. Offer Letters and Student Visa CAS Statements are produced by the Global Opportunities Team and sent directly to the students’ email address. Please note, we cannot produce a CAS for any student studying with us for one semester only.
Healthcare:
- Students are expected to arrange their Travel Insurance and Health insurance in their own country.
Students studying for more than 6 months will pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) (as
referred to on gov.uk) in order to access healthcare through the National Health Service (NHS)
