Courses

Exchange students selected for ECNU will be enrolled in the Standard Chinese Language Program.

The format of the program is as follows: 
  • 18 weeks in duration
  • Set schedule of classes
  • Small class sizes of less than 25 students
  • 20 hours of class per week
  • Face-to-face instruction by ECNU instructors
  • Equal emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing

Credits

 Credits at ECNU:

  • Full-time option: set amount of courses equivalent to 6.0 UVic units 

Course Evaluations at UVic: 

  • Since the course offerings at ECNU's Chinese Language Program are set, students do not submit their ECNU courses for evaluation by UVic. 
  • More information on course equivalencies and credits will be provided by UVic's Department of Pacific and Asian Studies.

  • Exchange students should contact ECNU's International Student Office to discuss off-campus housing options.

  • After being accepted by ECNU, exchange students will receive their Admission Notice and DQ form.
  • These documents can be used to apply for an X1 visa or X2 visa at the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate.
