Support students & research in Humanities

Giving to Humanities

Through studying languages, literatures, media, material cultures, histories and beliefs across peoples, places and times, the Faculty of Humanities asks complex questions about what it means to be human, what our relationships with each other and our environments require of us and what responsibilities we hold to the world and its future.

Your support helps students take part in hands-on learning opportunities all around the world, fosters interdisciplinary scholarship and provides grants and bursaries to support graduate student research. Every gift has a big impact.

Graduate research at the intersection of art and climate crisis

With support from the Richard and Margaret Beck Student Research Travel Award, Master's student Braedon Lowey (English) travelled to Iceland to conduct research for his final project, a documentary film featuring authors, scholars, journalists, and artists who all work at the intersection of climate change and humanities to address why their work is important in the ongoing efforts to preserve our natural world for future generations.

Making global learning possible

Funding through the Faculty of Humanities Travel and Learning Award supports students travelling to participate in programs like the I-Witness Field School, which examines Holocaust memorialization. Through the field school, students build an understanding of antisemitism, racism, religious intolerance, homophobia and ableism by visiting historical sites, museums and monuments across Central Europe.
