Nursing education graduate certificate
The certificate in nursing education is a flexible option for registered nurses to develop their pedagogical knowledge and practical skills, and to develop teaching skills in academic, clinical and community settings.
You will explore the philosophy of various pedagogical approaches to nursing and find ways to implement these approaches in dynamic teaching and learning environments. You will also reflect on your own teaching experiences and perspectives while collaborating with experienced field guides to apply theory in a practical setting.
This program can be completed in 1 year of full-time study, or 2 years part-time. Courses include 2 online theory courses and 2 practicum courses (usually in person).
Over the course of the graduate certificate program, you will:
- engage with educational knowledge to support teaching skills in academic, clinical and community settings
- put pedagogical content to use in real-life teaching and learning settings
Practicums let you put theory into practice and gain a sense of the real-world responsibilities you’ll face after graduation.
Students in the graduate certificate program complete 2 practice courses as part of their studies.
Placements might include:
- acute care, community or residential clinical settings
