During his studies at the University of Victoria’s School of Music, Mark Reid was admitted to the University’s Blue and Gold Circle and received the Horning Prize as most promising music educator. He is currently Director of Bands & Choirs at Vancouver Technical Secondary School. 

Highly praised for his work as an educator, Mark received the award for the 2013 MusiCounts Teacher of the Year—presented to him by Shania Twain—and was named to the 2014 Varkey GEMS Global Teacher Prize Top 50.

Mark serves as President of the Canadian Music Educators’ Association, and is the Inaugural Chapter President of Phi Beta Mu - An International Bandmasters’ Fraternity (Beta Gamma Chapter). In September 2014, Mark joined the conducting faculty at Saint James Music Academy. Mark has been on faculty for the Con Brio Whistler Music Festival and, in 2011, received a commission from the Festival to arrange Bruckner’s Ave Maria.

Mr. Reid has also performed with Foster the People, 2010 Paralympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony, Opera Appassionata, the Sarteano Conductors Workshop, Capilano University Wind Ensemble, for His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex and for Vancouver Symphony Orchestra educational concerts.
