Contract terms

Contractor

A person or company hired by UVic to do work or provide services. This includes their workers, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

Facilities Management (FMGT)

The UVic department that looks after buildings, construction projects, and the campus grounds.

FMGT Representative

The person from Facilities Management who is in charge of a project or service contract. They are contractors' main contact at UVic and handle all communication and contract issues.

Prime Contractor

The main contractor hired by UVic to complete a job. They are responsible for the whole project and may hire other people (subcontractors) to help with parts of the work.

Subcontractor

Someone hired by the Prime Contractor to do a specific part of the job.
