Program Declaration - Computer Science
Program declaration is the process by which Computer Science students formally indicate the degree program they wish to pursue within the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.
Who Needs to Declare?
You must complete a program declaration if you are a:
- Current Computer Science student who has completed CSC 115 (or CSC 116) and MATH 122, or
- Computer Science Undeclared student
All eligible students must declare the Computer Science program they wish to pursue through the declaration portal.
Program Options:
- Major in Computer Science
- Honours in Computer Science
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to declare a BSc program in Computer Science, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Successful completion of CSC 115 (or CSC 116) and MATH 122
- No grades below C in required Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, or English courses (courses with a grade below C must be repeated with a grade of C or better prior to graduation)
Admission to the Honours Program
Students who wish to be admitted to the Honours Program should apply to the Honours Adviser upon completion of Year 2. Entry requires a GPA of at least 6.0 calculated over all required Year 2 CSC, SENG, MATH, and STAT courses, according to the specific Honours program.
Students may also be admitted to the Honours Program upon completion of their third year, provided they have a GPA of at least 6.0 calculated over all required Year 3 CSC and SENG courses, based on a minimum of 12 units of course work for that year.
A GPA of 6.0 over all required Year 3 CSC and SENG courses is required to progress to fourth year in the Honours Program. Students who do not achieve this GPA will be required to transfer to the Major Program.
Co-op Program
Applications for admission to Computer Science Co-op programs are normally completed at the end of a student's first term of studies, but are accepted until the beginning of a student's third year. Application deadlines are September 15 and January 15. Detailed information is available at the Computer Science Co-op Office.
