A stage and the seats behind it are filled with hundreds of students and officials dressed in university regalia.

The Spring 2022 convocation ceremony for UVic Engineering and Computer Science graduates was among the largest ever held at the university.

More than 300 grads crossed the stage to be acknowledged for having earned a bachelor, masters or PhD during the ceremony, which took place the morning of Thursday, June 16.

Not all those who earned degrees were able to attend. This spring, 482 students were registered to graduate from the faculty. In addition, 50 undergraduate students from other faculties were awarded degrees in a combined computer science program, for a total of 532 students graduating with degrees related to engineering or computer science.

UVic awarded degrees to 363 undergraduate, 89 masters and 30 doctoral students from the faculty. Of these, 345 were from engineering and 126 from computer science.

Following the ceremony, many grads and their families attended a reception hosted by Dean Mina Hoorfar in the Engineering and Computer Science Building.

Our faculty is extremely proud of the hard work our grads have shown and we encourage them to join the university community in celebrating their achievement by viewing and contributing to their favourite grad moment on social media. Use the #uvicgrad hashtag on social to share your grad moment or upload your grad photo.

Grads and their friends and families are also invited to view the video of the ceremony.
