Donations impact the faculty in many ways. The list below is only a sampling of a "collage" of stories; stories about the people behind the gifts, and stories about the help that these acts of kindness provide.

The Ken Hurn Bursary in Elementary Education

Ken spent 33 dedicated years as an educator and administrator in the Victoria School District. This bursary is awarded annually to a student enrolled in elementary education, with a preference to a student with a demonstrated interest in teaching physical education. Learn about Ken Hurn.

The Drina Fraser Davison Bursary

Drina was a fine teacher, a loving daughter, sister and friend. The bursary in memory of Drina Fraser Davison is awarded to a grad student studying in the area of special education. Learn about Drina Fraser Davison.

The Fox Memorial Bursary

Winnifred and Dorothy Fox came as young girls with their family to Victoria in 1892. They both took teacher training at the Provincial Normal School, and taught in elementary schools, until retirement in 1949 and 1942. Learn more about Winnifred and Dorothy Fox.

The Don and Drina Corker Bursary

Ida May Munro Bursary

Ruth Rose Memorial Award

Alison J. Donaldson Memorial Bursary

Don Wright Music Education Wing

A man of true musical brilliance and generosity, Don Wright was a conductor, educator, composer, and philanthropist. Learn about Don Wright.

Royal Canadian Legion/UVic Community Clinic

A donation from the Royal Canadian Legion and in partnership with the Faculty of Education's Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies, established a community counseling clinic in Victoria for Canadian veterans and service men and women. Maxwell Cameron Memorial Medals

The Maxwell A. Cameron Memorial Medals commemorate the distinguished life and work of Dr. Maxwell Cameron - professor, administrator and author. They are awarded each year to outstanding education students. Learn about Maxwell Cameron.

City of Gardens, Sweet Adelines

Muriel Beverley Vaio Law Scholarship

Remembering Terry Johnson

Terry Johnson was a faculty member for over 30 years. He was an exemplary teacher, an inventive writer and a tireless advocate for literacy education in elementary school system. Learn about Terry Johnson.

Larry Lee Kinesiology Scholarship and Bursary

Larry Lee was born in Victoria. As a youngster he had serious health problems, but through involvements in gymnastics and weight training he was able to overcome them and stay active. He graduated from Victoria High School, and worked as a chauffeur at Canadian Forces Base Naden throughout his adult life. Learn about Larry Lee.

The Dr. Norma Mickelson Legacy Scholarship

Dr. Mickelson is renowned for her valuable contributions to the field of education and to equity issues. Not only was she elected the first female Dean of Education at UVic, she was also the first woman president of the UVic Faculty Association; the university's first advisor on equity issues, and the first female chancellor at the university. Lillian Ackerman Memorial Bursary

Lillian Edith Ackerman was the great-granddaughter of pioneers. She was a life member of the Saanich Pioneers Society and a long-time member of the International Order of The King's Daughters and Sons. Learn about Lillian Ackerman.

The Rosalind W. Young Scholarship

The Rosalind W. Young Scholarship is awarded annually by the Canadian Federation of University Women (Victoria) to the female student achieving the highest standing in third year of Education who is continuing University studies. Learn about Rosalind Young.

The Howard and Linda Petch Scholarship

Howard and Linda Schlechte Petch have made numerous contributions to the lower island community and the University of Victoria. Their lives and work are symbolic of their penchant for hard work, leadership, academic excellence and community building. Learn about Howard and Linda Petch.

The A. Wilfrid Johns Gallery

Located in the MacLaurin Buildilng, The A. Wilfrid Johns Gallery is one of the few galleries in North America dedicated to young people's artwork. Learn about the gallery.

Denton Memorial Book Prize

The Denton Memorial Book Prize was established in memory of Vernon Llewllyn Denton, a man who dedicated his professional life to encouraging and supporting student teachers in their pursuit of the strength and balance inherent to a skillful teaching capacity. Learn about Vernon Llewllyn Denton.

Robert Roy Brock Swailes Scholarship

It is hoped that the recipient of the award in his name will live up to the beliefs, the work ethic, the social skills and the enterprise for which Brock showed so much promise. Learn about Brock Swailes.

BC Recreation and Parks Scholarship

The Anne & Doug McLaughlin Scholarship

EDSA Award

The Marguerite Emma Grace Scholefield Bursary in Teacher Education

Miss Scholefield's career spanned 46 years during which time she was a teacher at various elementary school locations in and around Victoria. Learn about Marguerite Scholefield.

The Clearihue Bursary

The A. Wilfrid Johns Memorial Scholarship

Professor Johns' legacy to the university includes, among many, the art exhibitions, the Art Education faculty and department facility, and the countless numbers of teachers who studied with him. The Kathleen M. Hoyte Memorial Bursary
