BC schools districts are actively seeking French Immersion teachers. We can help you prepare for one of the many French Immersion positions available in the province.
Professional Specialization Certificate in Teaching French Immersion
This certificate program will provide you with the unique skills, methodological knowledge and French language fluency to be a highly effective teacher in the French Immersion environment. It is comprised of 6 units: 2 courses are delivered during summer session and the other 2 online during the fall and spring terms. The program is administered by the Division of Continuing Studies, Faculty of Education and French department.
You must pass a French language fluency test before being admitted to the PSC program. For more details, visit Continuing Studies website.
Students taking the four-year Bachelor of Education (Elementary Curriculum) program may be concurrently registered in the PSC in Teaching French Immersion. In order to graduate with both a Bachelor of Education degree and a Professional Certificate in Teaching French Immersion, students must complete the final PSC course in their final fall term. An academic adviser in the Teacher Education Advising Office can help you work out a plan for completing both programs.
