Giving Tuesday took place on December 3, 2024. The final results are in, and it was a record-breaking year with over a quarter of a million raised.
Don't worry, the sprinkles will return in 2025! We welcome donations year-round to areas of greatest need.

Many Giving Tuesday donations had double the impact this year thanks to generous donors who gave matching money to priority funds and select featured funds.

Giving Gramalanche
Each year the UVic community takes up the challenge to see who can sprinkle the most kindness and positivity across campus. Participants sent a record-breaking 1,237 Giving Grams!
This is the final leaderboard for the 2024 Giving Gramalanche Challenge:
- Taking the top spot with the most Giving Grams sent is Alumni and Development (A&D)
- Hot on their heels in second place is Communications and Marketing (UCAM)
- Third place in the race is Law (LAW)
- Business (BUSI) swooped into fourth place
- The Office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost (VPAC) was just a whisker behind in fifth!

About Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday at UVic brings together alumni, community members, faculty, staff and students to donate, participate in events and unlock dollars. UVic has been participating in Giving Tuesday since 2016. Since then, the event has generated over $1 million for a variety of programs and projects across the entire university—including student aid, clubs, community-outreach programs, EDI initiatives and much more.
After the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day to focus on giving back. But more important than the individual donations, Giving Tuesday is a chance to see how much we can achieve when we come together for the causes we care about at UVic.
Why the sprinkles?
The sprinkles theme is a fun way to demonstrate how many thousands of small actions (donations and participation) add up to have a significant impact at UVic and beyond.
What does Giving Tuesday fund?
Each year, campus partners select an initiative to promote on Giving Tuesday. These featured funds may support students or research within an academic area, or UVic initiatives in the wider community. This year, we are also promoting four priority funds which focus on student success, health and well-being. All donations, no matter the size, enrich the UVic experience!
