VICMUN conference - Saturday, February 28, 2026

December 01, 2025

UVic's Model UN (MUN) Club, sponsored by the Department of Political Science, is holding their annual VICMUN conference on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.

MUN was refounded after the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2023 by a small group of UVic students committed to international diplomacy and debate. That year, they hosted the very first iteration of VicMUN. Since then, the club has grown to over 50 members, and VicMUN has grown from a small conference to one which now hosts over 120 delegates.

The theme of VicMUN 2026 is "Threats to the International Order". In keeping with this focus, delegates will engage with issues that challenge global trust, humanitarian norms, and the fragile balance of international peace. To solve these issues, delegates will need to be creative, collaborative, and empathetic in their debates and negotiations.

Outside of committees, VicMUN 2026 is an opportunity for delegates to forge friendships, develop skills, and grow their appreciation for international diplomacy. Several former VicMUN delegates are now in our club helping to recreate the VicMUN experience that kept them invested in Model UN beyond graduation.
