Co-op for undergraduate students

The Co-op option is available to full time students enrolled, or intending to enrol, in either the Honours or Major BA or BSc streams. Admission is based on GPA.

Requirements:  Overall GPA 4.5 as well as GPA 4.5 in Econ 103 or 103C or 180, 104, 225, and Econ 245(no less than B- in each). No less than B in one of CSC 105, 110 or 111. If you have taken ECON 203 or 204, you must meet the GPA 4.5 requirement in these rather than the introductory courses ECON 103 or 103C or 180 and/or 104.

  • All ECON Co-op students are encouraged to take ECON 410A and/or POLI 351 before their second co-op term. These courses combine technical writing with policy analysis and provide skills that are highly valued by employers. Students should have technical writing abilities at least at the level of ECON 225 to be competitive in finding placements.

Application is normally made in the Fall or Spring term of the student's second year of undergraduate study. Application forms can be obtained from the Social Sciences Co-op office. For more information on application procedures follow the How to Apply link on the UVic Co-op website.

Undergraduate students who successfully complete three work terms graduate with a co-op designation.

Further information on the Undergraduate Co-op program is available in the University of Victoria calendar.
