Master's program
The Master of Arts degree in Anthropology combines coursework in methodology and themes that integrate anthropology's subfields with research experience.
MA students are required to complete a minimum of 7.5 units of course work and a 7.5-unit thesis.
Students will prepare a thesis proposal and have it approved by their supervisory committee by September 15 of their second year in the program. The proposal and the thesis are prepared under the direction of the supervisory committee, which normally consists of the supervisor and another member of the Anthropology Department.
The examining committee includes the supervisory committee and an “outside member” from another department or university. Most students require 2 to 2½ years to complete the program.
