Campus support

It can be hard to know where to turn when you feel overwhelmed, lost, stressed or anxious. But help is available. There are many resources on campus to help you.

Resources

SupportConnect is a free, confidential mental health support service for UVic students. You can talk with qualified counsellors, consultants and life coaches anytime, anywhere.


The Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement is here to support the success of Indigenous students attending UVic. They can connect you with the educational, financial and cultural resources available on campus and in local communities.


International Centre for Students can help international students with study permits and immigration documents, personal development, academic success and adjusting to cultural differences.


Academic advisers can help you manage your academic expectations and maintain an appropriate course load. They can help you access opportunities and resources.


The Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) provides programs, services and support to facilitate accessible learning for students with disabilities.


UVic Pride celebrates sexual, gender and romantic diversity. You can find resources, chat online, take workshops and take part in events.


The Peer Support Centre has trained volunteers who are passionate about promoting mental health and self-care in a positive way. They are here to listen and offer completely confidential and non-judgemental support.


The Ombudsperson helps resolve student problems or disputes fairly. They can help you understand your options, rights and responsibilities, and facilitate communication.


The Sexualized Violence Resource Office offers information, support, and education for all UVic community members. They also run education sessions and workshops aimed at preventing and responding to sexualized violence at UVic.


The Gender Empowerment Centre is a space for self-identified women, non-binary and gender non-conforming folks. It’s a place where you can organize, network, access resources, attend workshops and events, study and relax.


The Anti-Violence Project provides anti-oppressive and sex-positive services. They provide advocacy and action to people of all genders to address all forms of violence.


Native Students’ Union is a student-run collective dedicated to supporting the Indigenous student community at the University of Victoria.


Society for Students with a Disability (SSD) is a post-secondary student advocacy group that promotes the full participation and inclusion of students who self-identify as having one or more disabilities.


Students of Colour Collective (SOCC) is a collective of self-identified people of colour at the University of Victoria. SOCC exists to create space that fosters community building, and facilitates networking and gatherings for self-identified BIPOC students.


The Student Union Building (SUB) hosts Victory Therapeutics, a campus pharmacy and more. 


Equity and Human Rights (EQHR) provides support for sexualized violence response, and discrimination, harassment, and bullying. They are also a resource to access education on equity and inclusion practices across campus and consult on how to implement the work.
