Community education

New Student Orientation Sessions:

Campus Security Services provides orientation presentations to new students, staff, and faculty and participates in annual orientation sessions like Parent Information Fair and President's Day of Welcome Information Fair.

Crime Prevention Awareness:

Campus Security facilitates numerous crime prevention workshops throughout the campus community to groups or departments about theft prevention, workplace safety, personal safety, residence safety, Lock It or Lose It, and other safety related topics. Safety audits are also conducted in campus departments.

Community Committees:

The Personal Safety Manager represents CSEC on numerous committees including the Ombudsperson Advisory Committee, University Safety Committee and all building safety committees.

Naloxone Training:

Students can access training (including free kits) through the University of Victoria’s Student Society (UVSS), in partnership with Student Wellness. Or book a private appointment with a UVic nurse for training and a free naloxone kit.

Everyone can learn about harm reduction and naloxone use for free at Toward the HeartCanadian Red Cross and the Canadian Pharmacy Association.

You can also pick up a free kit at the Harm Reduction Centre and Campus Pharmacy.
