Water damage at Mearns – McPherson Library

Updated: January 20, 2026

Due to heavy rainfall in December, Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library sustained localized water damage on the upper floors, as well as the lower level. Water damage to library collections has been minimal and the art collections on display were not damaged. Approximately 1200 print volumes were affected and we are evaluating these materials for replacement.

All spaces are open for library patrons, with the exception of the third floor and third mezzanine levels of McPherson Library, most of which should reopen in the coming weeks. Until then, we may be able to retrieve items on your behalf or provide alternate versions of books and items in these areas. Please contact us for help accessing any materials you are unable to retrieve in person.
